Kenya woke up on Monday to the news that Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore had died at his home in Nairobi after a long battle with cancer.
Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui joined Kenyans and other leaders in mourning Collymore terming him a great man.
Kinyanjui on his Facebook page said Collymore was as an accomplished corporate leader who during his tenure had turned Safaricom into the most profitable company in East Africa.
The Governor further said that the CEO supported and initiated different projects the helped the community and the youth.
“Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore was a great man with an incredible passion for excellence. His tenure at Safaricom saw the company turn into the most profitable company in East Africa. Beyond the profit, he found peace in supporting community projects in environment, health and education. The M-Pesa Academy for nurturing youth talent will be his enduring legacy,” said the governor in the post.
“Our condolences to the family and Safaricom staff. We shall miss him dearly. May he Rest in Peace,” he added.
