The Harambee Starlets player is reportedly set to jet out of the country on Wednesday to sign a two-year-deal with the Spanish Club.

Currently, Aquino plies her trade with Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) side Gaspo FC.

She says she is looking forward to joining the European based Atletico.

“Every player's dream is to play in Europe and I am not an exception. I have always been dreaming of playing away from Kenya and I thank God I now have the chance to achieve my dream, I am looking forward to a good stay in Spain,” Aquino was quoted by Goal.com.

Last year, the midfielder played a thrilling role as his side finished runners up in the KWPL behind champions Alex Alumira led Vihiga Queens.

She was also part of the Kenya women national team (Harambee Starlets) that beat hosts Tanzania to win last year’s edition of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) women Senior Challenge Cup in Dar es Salaam, in December 2019.

The 21-year-old Aquino was born and raised in Makongeni Nairobi, where she horned her football skills.
