County transition coordinator Celine Bonyo said a total of 4,904 workers had their details captured in the drive that went on in the county’s headquarters and four other locations in the sub-counties.

Bonyo said that all national government workers were registered in the exercise, with their highest qualifications recorded.

“We managed to register all national government workers seconded and working in the county. However, we are still carrying out audits to ascertain that every person had their details captured,” she said.

She assured that all the other details were captured correctly, including qualifications and certificates held by each worker.

Industrial court Judge Hellen Nabiswa sitting in Kisumu stopped the registration of county workers on October 1 after the Kenya County Government Workers Union went to court challenging the legality of the countrywide exercise.

The judge ordered that Kisumu, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Migori, and Busia counties stop the exercise until such a time when the case would be dealt with. Five days later, on October 6, she extended the orders for a month.
