Third Way Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot has exuded confidence that his push for constitional changes will bear fruits in the long run.
Speaking during his second day in his tour to rally county assemblies to pass his Punguza Mizigo Bill, Aukot said that those opposed to the ideas are in for a rude shock.
The Former Presidential candidate insisted that he has good plans for the people of Kenya, adding that he has received overwhelming support since he unveiled the proposals.
In an interview with Daily Nation, he said that he is sure of support from different corners of the country.
“We have a lot of support from members of the public and MCAs across the country. We are confident we will get more than 24 assemblies to back the bill and open the route to amend the Constitution,” said Dr Aukot said.
Aukot’s bill is seeking to reduce the terms of the presidency to one term of seven years, reduce the number of Members of Parliament, scrapping of the positions of the Deputy Governor among others.
He opines that the wage bill of the country is among the reasons Kenyan has continued to lag behind in terms of development.
The proposals have, however, met objection from different corners. The ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga is among those who have trashed the proposals.
