In a tweet on Friday, the Foreign Affairs CS said Kenya's bid was very much alive, and on course.

She held the view that Kenya continues to enjoy the goodwill of other countries across the globe, and expressed hope the country would be elected in the upcoming elections slated for June this year.

"Kenya’s bid for the UNSC is on and alive. Elections will be held in June 2020. Joining of the council happens every January, and is based on regional representation. We continue to enjoy goodwill from across the world and remain very hopeful of clinching the vote," she tweeted.

The Uhuru-led administration continues to engage countries on the diplomatic front, hoping to secure their support for Kenya's bid for the UNSC.

Should Kenya be elected in June, it will serve in the UNSC for a period of 2 years.

Serving as a non-permanent UNSC member would be a massive win for Kenya, as it would raise its profile and clout on the international stage.
