Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has announced that the results of a suspected coronavirus case admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) are ready.
Kariuki, however, said that the Ministry of Health has opted to dispatch the results to South Africa for further analysis before they can confirm whether the patient is suffering from the disease or not.
The CS said that the government will decide on the way forward after the results are send back to the country.
“Results carried out on the Case in Isolation have been sent to South Africa for further analysis to have a clear guideline on how we can move on once we established that our results are correct,” she said.
“Our systems are working, and we have capacity and infrastructure to fight coronavirus,” the CS added.
The government on Wednesday said that the Kenyans living in China will not be asked to come back into the country as efforts to contain the disease continue.
The government has also put in place different measures to ensure that suspected patients undertake tests to ensure that they are safe before they can be allowed back into the country. The virus has spread to other parts of the world.
