A 24-year old man has drowned and died while fetching water for the brewing of 'Chang'aa in Bomet county.

Reports indicate that police officers have launched investigations to establish more details and the circumstance under which the man drowned.

The body of the deceased had bruises on his head when it was retrieved from the pool of water on Saturday morning by the area residents in collaboration with police officers.

According to the officers, the bruises are suspected to have been caused by the fall into the water.

Konoin Sub-county Police boss Alex Shikondi pointed out that the late may have been drunk while fetching the water.

Further reports have revealed that the deceased fell into the pool of water while attempting to get a rope and a bucket that is used for fetching the water.

 David Ngetich who is the chief of the area that the incident took place added that the water was meant for preparing the illicit brew.

“We were told that the rope he was using dropped into the pool, he decided to follow it and drowned, it is unfortunate that he was having intentions to use the water to prepare illicit brew”  the chief stated as quoted by Citizen TV.

The body of the late was transported to Kapkatet Funeral Home.
