Speaking on Wednesday, he pointed out that politicians have mastered the art of fooling Kenyans, unfortunately, with the help of Kenyans themselves.

He termed this the reason behind the ongoing doublespeak about the said looming referendum, where politicians are dropping their stands for new ones.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga are in support of BBI, despite attacking each other previously.

Weda says that this is a result of Kenyans repeatedly electing politicians without a clear vision and stand, hence the dynamism, but Kenyans still embrace them.

"Kenyans are like bags of potatoes which you carry then drop when you want. Kenyans love it that way, these are the people they choose," he said.

Weda, who is an Advocate of the High Court spoke on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation show on Wednesday morning.

He added that politicians should not hide behind the ongoing national unity calls to shift goalposts, saying that Kenyans have more important needs like food and jobs.

He linked this to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) push, which has united Raila and Uhuru but appears to have isolated the DP, with Raila and Uhuru terming it the key to national unity.

Weda is of the opinion that politicians should work more on addressing the needs for Kenyans, noting that unity without food or jobs would be useless.

"What they are saying is not our priority. The handshake is not important, Kenyans want jobs, food and security," he added.
