Thirdway Alliance party has announced that it will not be participating in the much-awaited Kibra parliamentary race.
So far, ODM and Amani National Congress (ANC) parties, both from the opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) alliance have announced that they will field candidates.
In a letter signed by party Secretary-General Fredrick Okango, the Ekuru Aukot led party on Friday announced that it will instead concentrate on its ongoing referendum push.
"This is to notify our supporters and the general public that Thirdway Alliance Kenya has decided not to field any candidate for the forthcoming by-election in Kibra constituency," reads the letter in part.
"This is in the spirit of furthering the Punguza Mizigo (Constitution of Kenya amendment) bill 2019, that is currently before 47 county assemblies for debates," further reads the letter.
In its proposal, the party seeks to slash representation, especially in Parliament, by over a half in a bid to reduce the soaring wage bill.
This will also include the abolition of Woman Representative positions, alongside the Deputy Governor slots.
It also seeks to introduce a fixed seven-year presidential term.
The Kibra seat went vacant following the death of its former holder, Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer in July.
