Deputy President William Ruto has insisted that the ruling Jubilee Party remains united.
Speaking in Kiserian in Kajiado County on Sunday, the DP noted that the party was formed with a clear mission and goal, adding that it is still committed to realising the goal.
Ruto said that there are no factions or power tussles within the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led block, where he also serves as the deputy party leader.
“There are no factions in Jubilee. No one is planning to wrestle the party from anyone,” he said, as quoted by the Standard.
He added said that the different stands being taken by members are allowed given that Jubilee is a democratic party, adding that the differences don't amount to division.
His remarks come at a time when the party seems divided into the pro-Uhuru Kieleweke faction and the Tangatanga group which is largely associated with him.
Women members are also appearing to have taken different positions, with some supporting the Uhuru-allied Embrace group and others the Inua Mama group.
This is not the first time the DP is refuting claims of there being divisions within Jubilee Party as he has always maintained that the unity between him and the Head of State remains intact.
