Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has opposed constitutional review to accommodate election losers.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Mithika said that the winners of any election are the ones to form the government.
The lawmaker said that the appointment given the losers can cost the ruling party in different ways.
He argued that giving the leaders from the opposition room for appointments can be unreasonable because they will not abide by the rules of leadership.
"I personally oppose the constitution as to how does someone who has lost elections get a cabinet appointment? That person put there by the President cannot oppose the President & his decisions," he said.
Linturi divulged that it is important for the electorate to feel at peace, adding that a cabinet secretary from the opposition is bound to disrespect the problem.
"How power is shared & how people feel represented from the grassroots level is the issue. The CS’s who advise the President, are appointed by him, on inclusivity, we need to ensure those elected are the ones forming the cabinet," he said.
Leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have affirmed that they will do all they can to shoot down the report. They believe is a scheme to block Ruto from ascending to power.
