Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has lashed out at Team Embrace, a political grouping of women leaders in support of the handshake between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking on Friday during an Inua Mama event, the outspoken DP Ruto-backing legislator called on Kenyans across the country not to entertain Team Embrace.
"I want to tell you that there is nothing that Team Embrace are embracing and I am praying that Kenyans don't welcome them because we have seen what they are up to in Kilifi (Mimi nataka niwaambie hakuna kitu emrace wanaembrace na naomba Wakenya wasiwakaribishe kwa sababu hiyo yao tumeiona leo ndani ya Kilifi)," the Malindi MP said.
Aisha Jumwa's strong words come in the context of a political tour of the coast by members of Team Embrace.
While both Inua Mama and Team Embrace continue to style themselves as pro-women, the two groups pledge their loyalty to oppose political agendas.
Team Embrace is firmly behind the handshake while Inua Mama pledges its loyalty to Deputy President Dr William Ruto and his presidential aspirations.
Inua Mama adherents are strongly opposed to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), charging it is a cynical ploy to saddle Kenyans with more political positions for electoral losers.
Team Embrace have publicly expressed their support for the initiative and gave their recommendations to the committee.
