President Uhuru Kenyatta has taken shots at politicians questioning his sincerity to keeping his promise to his deputy William Ruto with regards to their 2013 agreement.
Speaking on Friday, the Head of State noted that never at any point has he declared whether he will or will not endorse the DP, after promising to back him as his successor in 2013 and 2017.
Uhuru pointed out that those who have been reminding him about the promise should stop, terming their remainders useless, as he has not made any declaration touching on that yet.
“I have never left my party to join another one. You have never heard me say who you should elect. But why do some people think that they should be reminding me every morning on what I should do or not?" he posed.
He made the remarks when he met politicians from the Mt Kenya region at the Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri County, some of whom have been pressuring him to reiterate his support for Ruto.
Uhuru spoke with regards to claims that his truce with ODM leader Raila Odinga could erase his initial pact with Ruto, saying that the handshake was solely for national peace.
About the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) founded by him and Raila, he termed the claims and guesses being made about what to expect from the document as shocking.
Uhuru said that he once phoned the 14-member taskforce chair to inquire if copies of the document have been given out, judging by the manner in which politicians are discussing it.
He said that he too remains unaware of contents of the document, which is set to be presented to him, but said that it will be open for public scrutiny once out.
