Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has joined the list of notable political leaders who have condoled with family and friends of Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth.

Okoth who has been battling cancer for some time died on Friday at the Nairobi Hospital. Many leaders in the country including President Uhuru Kenyatta have termed Okoth's death a great loss to the nation.

In a statement to journalists, the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party boss eulogised the late Ken as a fighter and a focused leader who battled his way through illness.

He praised him as a servant leader who stood out among his peers in the legislative house, passing his deep condolences and those of the Moi family.

“Despite the burden of fighting cancer, Ken remained focused working for the people he represented. This fidelity to servant leadership made him stand tall among his peers in the National Assembly. On behalf of myself and family, I join his family, people of Kibra and the country in mourning the loss," said Moi.

On his part, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho termed Okoth as a brave warrior who stood for the rights of his people.

"Mombasa mourns with the family, people of Kibra and the country over the death of a brave and robust young legislator the late Hon Ken Okoth. Mheshimiwa was a brave warrior who always stood for the rights of his people and fought a brutal battle with Cancer," said Joho.

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina noted that Okoth was a good friend, adding that he will miss his brilliant brain.

"Goodbye my Friend #kenokoth I will miss your brilliant brain. R.P.I (sic)," he wrote.

Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga in a tweet on Thursday termed Okoth a friend and a brother.

"RIP my brother and friend, son of Homabay, son of Kenya!" she wrote.

Okoth's death comes days after he returned from France where he had been receiving treatment.
