Speaking in Gem, Siaya County over the weekend, Raila said his peace deal with the Head of State was not for personal gains but for the advantage of Kenyans who he observed have suffered for long.

"What hurts me is the suffering of my people. Our children were born in this suffering, grew up in it and works in it. Our people are hardworking and they never want to beg. I do not want anything as Raila, I just want Kenyans to benefit," said the former Prime Minister.

Raila told off those who have been claiming he was bribed by Uhuru to support the Jubilee administration, noting he was not a man of little means to kneel down before politicians to beg for money.

"My political friendship with the President is not for my personal gain but for all Kenyans," reiterated the African Union (AU) special envoy.

Reacting to the remarks, Miguna rubbished Raila's sentiments and accused him of receiving Sh50 billion of taxpayers money from Uhuru.

In a tweet on Sunday, the exiled lawyer referred to the ODM boss as a 'self-seeker' and a 'coward' for allegedly betraying his supporters, who suffered fighting for him, by embracing Uhuru who implicated pain on them.

"The People's Con-Man, you did the #Handcheque for personal gain. Uhuru Kenyatta paid you Sh50 billion of our money. He tortured, maimed and murdered hundreds of your supporters who are yet to get justice. You are a self-seeker and a coward," Miguna posted
