Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has dismissed the idea of working with the governing Jubilee party and the deputy president.
Speaking on Sunday while campaigning for his party's candidate in the Kibra by-election, Musalia Mudavadi said that the deputy president Dr William Ruto and the Jubilee party were the problems.
He told the congregation that he was keen on being part of the solution and not part of the problem.
"Ruto and Jubilee are the problem. Hao ndio wametuletea shida sasa wanasema (they are the ones who have caused us problems) I go and become part of the problem. No, ANC is going to be part of the solution, " the ANC supremo said.
Earlier in the week, the deputy president urged Musalia Mudavadi to join him, saying that the ANC leader had a better chance of being in the government by joining him.
Musalia called on the residents of Kibra to vote for Eliud Owalo, a former aide of the veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
The ANC candidate will battle it out against ODM, Ford-Kenya and Jubilee candidates.
Kibra constituency is a turf of ODM.
ANC secretary-general Barack Muluka said that the party would not work with the deputy president to form the next government.
Mudavadi has made it clear that he will throw his hat in the ring in 2022.
