Political analyst Edward Kisiang'ani has taken a swipe at a Thursday meeting between ODM leader Raila Odinga and a section of leaders from the Western Kenya region.
The meeting was held at Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli's home in Kakamega county, where the leaders agreed on the need for constitutional changes.
But in a tweet later in the day, the university professor termed the meeting a fake one, and instead appeared to be in support of a separate meeting that was held in the same region.
He chose to recognize a Luhya cultural function that was held in Sabatia in Vihiga county, the backyard of Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi.
"On Boxing Day there were two major meetings in Luhyialand. First one was in Sabatia celebrating the rich, diverse n true Luyia culture attended by the likes of Musalia, Wamalwa etc. Second, but fake fake "Luhyia" meeting was in Butere led by the likes of Raila, Atwoli," Kisiang'ani tweeted.
He lauded the leaders at the second event for acknowledging the need for unity with Kenyans from the remaining parts of the country if they are to realize their political goals.
"So today's meeting of true Luhyia leaders was in Maragoli, Vihiga at the backyard of Musalia Mudavadi. The beauty of the Maragoli meeting is the leaders recognized their own cannot win political power without support and unity of all Kenyans. That is the way to go," he added.
Mudavadi is currently eyeing the presidency, after repeatedly declaring his pending candidature for the 2022 general elections.
