Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchoba has asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i and his Education counterpart Prof George Magoha to ensure justice is served following an incident in which parents allegedly burnt to death a teacher in Kitui.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, the Woman Rep condemned the incident saying the teacher did not deserve to die in such a painful way.
"I strongly condemn the brutal killing of the primary school teacher in Kitui as reported today. Surely she did not have to die that painful. We must honour and protect our female teachers. C's Matiangi Vs Magoha, we need justice!" read part of the post.
"Those parents who killed her and burnt her body in disguise of poor KCPE performance must be brought to book," she added.
The body of the teacher was discovered on Tuesday.
Kitui County Director of Education Salesa Adano confirmed the brutal killing of the teacher and called on the security team to investigate the matter and apprehend those held culpable.
Attacks on teachers and schools are a growing concern for the authorities. Last year, a female teacher was attacked in Bondo, Siaya County, in class.
The female teacher was stabbed on her neck and left cheek. She was later discharged from Bondo sub-county hospital.
