Nowadays, we have become so inseparable from our mobile phones. But do you now that your phone might be exposing you to cancer and some health risks?
According to research done by the National Cancer Institute dubbed Cell Phones and Cancer Risk, mobile phones are likely to put the user at risk of contracting many cancer-related complications.
“Cell phones emit radiofrequency radiation also called radio waves. A form of non-ionizing radiation from their antennas. Parts of the body near the antenna can absorb the energy,” part of the research report reads.
These energies include x-rays and they are absorbed by the body hence increasing one’s exposure to cancer.
In addition, a study conducted by the University of Chicago in 2017 and published in the Journal of the Association for Consumer Research also indicates that a person is likely to suffer cognitive incapacitation as a result of using a Smartphone.
“Results from two experiments indicate that even when people are successful at maintaining sustained attention. The mere presence of these devices (smartphones) reduces available cognitive capacity,” the study reads in part.
Furthermore, Very Well Mind, a popular American health magazine, to some extent attributes lack of sleep to the use of smartphones. It further states that smartphones also can cause social and emotional impairment for young people.
However, despite many risks highlighted, it has not been fully established whether indeed smartphones have anything to do with cancer cases.
