Political commentator Herman Manyora has predicted tough days ahead for Deputy President William Ruto, after the presentation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

With the report set to be released on Tuesday, Manyora says that Ruto will be subjected to a situation where he will now have to openly oppose the initiative.

The commentator says that this will bring the DP out as opposing the government he is part of, given that BBI has been packaged as a government project, with President Uhuru Kenyatta's backing.

"Beginning Tuesday, things become much more difficult for William Samoei Ruto than ever before because this is being presented as s a government project. How does the DP of the republic of Kenya oppose that being presented as a government project?" he posed in a video shared on his YouTube analysis channel, Saturday.  (from minute 4:10)

Manyora cited the fact that the BBI was gazetted, funded by the government and will be presented to Uhuru in his official capacity.

For a man who has been seen to be largely opposed to the BBI, going by the declarations being made by his allies, he said that Ruto might have to come out to openly fight the BBI.

In the event that he decides to do it indirectly, Manyora added, then the opposing side might be weakened, which will also see Ruto end up the victim if the BBI is not in favour of his interests.

"His not openly being on the 'NO' side will slow down the side in the absence of his direct support," he added.

This comes a day after Uhuru urged politicians already opposing the BBI report to await its release before criticizing it.

He has since declared his full support for the BBI, alongside ODM Leader Raila Odinga, with whom they founded the initiative and its taskforce.
