Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her Nyali counterpart Mohammed Ali have spelled out their reasons for attending a Tangatanga meeting in Naivasha.
Legislators aligned to Deputy President William Ruto's camp who are from Jubilee party and others who have defected from their parties held a meeting in Naivasha on Monday to decide on their Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) stand.
MP Mohammed Ali said that he decided to show up so that he can hear the critical issues facing Kenyans, especially for the Mombasa locals.
He noted that the meeting was not held to discuss succession politics.
"I'm not a Jubilee MP but independent. I attended this meeting because I'm aware it is about issues affecting Kenyans. It is not about leadership politics but issues affecting the common mwananchi. So I have come so that I see if the issues affecting the people of Mombasa will be discussed,” Ali said, as quoted by Star.
On her part, Aisha Jumwa, an ODM MP, said that the meeting which unites leaders from the Upper and Lower House should discuss issues that are affecting the people of Kenya.
She said that Kenyans should be prioritised first in all matters.
“We must speak the truth even if it hurts. The common mwananchi should be given priority first. This country has no leadership vacuum and the over 180 leaders attending the retreat should give priority to issues affecting Kenyans,” Jumwa said.
