Dida, the party leader of the Alliance for Real Change, argued that Monica is the best suited person to complete projects left undone by Okoth, since they spent a lot of time together as a couple.

In a tweet on Thursday, the teacher turned politician said Monica should be allowed to serve as an MP for the remainder of the period her husband was to be in the National Assembly.

"The late Hon Okoth spent most of his life with his wife. So if there is anyone to carry on with his projects, it is the wife. What if the late Hon Okoth had taken loans? Let the wife hold the position till 2022. After that, you can bring in your surrogates," Dida posted.

Ken, who was serving his second term, died on July 26 after a long battle with colon cancer.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has already declared his seat vacant, and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has scheduled the by-election on November 7.

The seat has attracted a lot of aspirants including; ODM boss Raila Odinga's former advisor; Eliud Owalo, popular DJ Kriss Darlin, among others.
