A murder suspect, who is identified as Joseph King’ori M’Ikamati told the court on Monday that the former Vice President had intentions of grabbing the land in question before the dispute ensued.

Through lawyer Kirimi Mbogo, the suspect adversely mentioned the Kamba political kingpin in the land saga as the detectives probe the matter.

He said that the 2,000-acre parcel of land is property to five clans but Kalonzo has decided to take over the piece of land. He alluded that Kalonzo has decided to use proxies to take away the land from the legal owners for his selfish gain.

The man also said that Kalonzo has been interfering with a probe on the matter.

While appearing before Meru Resident Judge Alfred Mabeya  the man said that Kalonzo has taken advantage of his links with powerful government officials to invade the land.

“When this report was filed and a police investigation undertaken, the arrest and prosecution of suspects began but was stopped allegedly through the influence of the DCC and Hon Kalonzo Musyoka,” he claimed.

He also said that Kalonzo has been in constant communication with several officials in government including Meru County Commissioner Allan Machari and Igembe South Deputy County Commissioner James Koskey.
