A 15-year-old boy was on Friday evening found dangling from the roof of their house in Karia-ini village, Nyandarua County in a suspected suicide case.
The boy is believed to have taken his life after a poor performance in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) whose results were released by the Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on November 18.
The bereaved family was left disturbed by the death of the boy who had just undergone circumcision.
"We are disturbed and shocked by the suicide. He was in good terms with all his family members," David Njoroge, the father of the boy, said.
“I suspect he took his own life and learning that he did not perform as he expected in the KCPE examination,” he added as quoted by Nation.
A relative recalled how the boy prior to his death cracked some jokes.
“I was with his mother when he made some jokes to us on Sunday that left us all in stitches. He was a very creative and ambitious boy,” Esther Wanjiku stated.
Karia-ini sub-location chairman pointed out that the case of a minor committing suicide had not been witnessed before in the village.
The body was taken to Engineer Nyayo Ward Hospital mortuary.
