The Deputy President William Ruto attended Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua's mother's burial in Mathira constituency, Nyeri county.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the second in command described the late Martha Kirigo Gachagua as a woman who delivered selfless service to her family, church, and education.
Ruto also praised the late MP's mother for her well-played role in the fight for independence.
"Her selfless service to the family, the church, education sector and the role she played during the fight for independence is something we should all model ourselves on." Deputy President Ruto said
He urged fellow mourners to not forget the legacy of hard work, and integrity that she has left behind.
"The Late Mrs Martha Kirigo Gachagua has left behind a legacy and culture of hard work, integrity, and dedication to family," he added
During the burial, Ruto said that President Uhuru Kenyatta has no plans to remain in office after 2022 emphasizing that those who were peddling the rumours were political brokers.
The DP further said that the government will continue with the implementation of the Big Four Agenda.
“It is brokers and political merchants who are peddling that rumour across the country,” he said.
Other leaders who were present in the burial include; Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa among others.
