Governors have been accused of giving bribes to Senators to have them cleared on various financial impropriety reports, ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire says.
The Senate Public Accounts Committee has obligation of summoning governors for interrogation on various financial prudence questions.
Recently, PAC chairman Moses Kajwang cleared Governor John Nyagarama, whose leadership has been questioned by Nyamira residents.
In apparent reference to Auditor General damning report about Governor Nyagarama, Bosire accused senators of taking bribes to cleanse governors.
"What we have been saying is finally out. Senate is harboring corruption. They take money to clear corrupt governors dubiously," he said.
"They should take responsibility for the mess they have created in counties. We cannot develop if these people continue taking bribes," he added.
In the report, Nyagarama is accused of gross violation of Public Finance Management act besides failing to account for millions meant for various projects.
Senator Kajwang' recently lauded Governor Nyagarama, saying that Nyamira County goverment was one of the best managed in Kenya.
"Nyamira are my neighbors. I want to admit that it's one of the best managed county government. Others should borrow a leaf from the governor," he said.
