Former international Kenyan sprinter, and brother to late football legend Joe Kadenge, John Anzrah was on Tuesday hospitalised after suffering a stroke.
Anzrah, who is currently admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) private wing, got ill while in Nairobi.
Speaking to Nation on Wednesday, Anzrah's sister-in-law Skastina, said they received a call from a good Samaritan, who informed them that Anzrah had fallen sick while in town.
They hurriedly took him to Nairobi West Hospital, where the doctors examined and referred him to KNH for further treatment.
It is at KNH that the medics established that Anzrah had suffered a stroke.
According to the family, Anzrah is responding well to treatment, and is under various tests to ascertain his condition.
"Anzrah has been talking to us and responding well as we await further action from the doctors," said Skastina as quoted by Nation.
He is currently a coach after retiring from his career, which he started in 1983 representing the country at the World Championships.
