A woman has been arrested in Anduro village Siaya County for allegedly trying to sell her 5-year-old son for Sh2 million.
The 23-year woman, Sharon Ochieng tried to sell her son to a security guard in Siaya town only identified as Irene.
Achieng claims that her husband had abandoned his responsibilities of taking care of the family and that she was unable to cater to the needs of the minor which informed her decision to 'sell him'.
Irene alerted the police citing that she has known Achieng for a while and she does not know about her being married as she is an orphan living with her grandmother.
Area Assistant Chief Joseph Aloo,confirmed the incident.
"Achieng tried to sell her son to a woman identified as Irene who works as a security guard in Siaya town," noted the Assistant Chief.
The suspect is being held at Siaya Police Station as a probe into the matter begins.
