The Secretary-General of Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Francis Atwoli on Thursday claimed that the Luhya Community should be proud of and support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Atwoli was speaking at his home in Khwisero, Kakamega county when he hosted opposition leader Raila Odinga and leaders from the Western Region.
He expressed his support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report citing that it was something he had prophesied back in 2017.
"Luhyas should be proud about BBI. 2017, you can go to your records, to everywhere to your archives, you will find that I announced it in 2017. I am happy that the former minister Honorable Wekesa repeated exactly what I said in 2017 and it has come to pass," Atwoli said as shown in a report.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga who also doubles up as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader while speaking after the meeting with Atwoli claimed that leaders should harry and complete the BBI in 2020.
"But we have said that this is how we shall begin with all the challenges and also the resolution that this year we have to bring everything about BBI to a completion.
(Lakini tumesema, tunaanza namna hii na changamoto ana vilevile na resolution ya kwamba mwaka huu lazima tuletee mambo ya BBI ikamilike)," Raila stated.
Raila Odinga together with his allies have recently been on a campaign to drum up support for the BBI report.
