For the past few months, Dr Ruto has been struggling to have a position on the proposed referendum, with his team seemingly opposing expansion of executive.

Speaking in Kapsabet on Tuesday, the DP said he has no issues with Building Bridges Initiative, adding that he is ready to scrutinize and support changes.

The DP, who was responding to ODM leader Raila Odinga, said he is ready for either presidential or parliamentary system, adding that the people of Kenya will make the final decision.

"If BBI report is about constitutional changes, we are ready. If they will not recommend constitutional changes, we are ready. If it's about presidential or parliamentary system, we are ready to investigate the system and give our input. Let them stop threats. We are not ready for divisive politics," he said

BBI team, which was formed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, is set to handover final report by October this year. The team is currently writing the report.

On Sunday, Mr Odinga warned that those opposed to impending changes will be defeated in the referendum. He said that the report will be published for scrutiny.

“There are very good views from Kenyans and once the report is out, we will publish it for Kenyans to give their views then go for a referendum.

"I have seen a storm, there are signs that it will rain. There’s is a storm that will take all the Tanga Tanga people to the ocean,” said Raila amid cheers by the wild crowd at Kamukunji grounds.
