The National Treasury has announced budget reduction various Ministries and State Departments (MDAs).

Acting Cabinet Secretary at the National Treasury Ukur Yatani has asked the different dockets to brace for tougher times after the slashing of funds allocated to the them in the 2020/21 financial year. 

He said that the government is ready to reduce the recurrent expenditure but maintain revenue mobilisation. 

Ukur, who was appointed into the office after the suspension of Henry Rotich asked the ministries to adjust their expenditures so that they can stay within the budget. 

He also said that the success of different government projects will depend on the way the various dockets are going to utilise the funds they were be allocated at the end of the day.

“The cuts will be brutal, sustained and without option. It is high time for us to adjust accordingly because the success of the government will depend entirely on our dignity as a country to be self sufficient in our own development priorities,” he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.  

The Treasury had ensured smooth running of different ministries adjustments in the budget allocation for the 2019/2020 financial year. 

More amendments are expected to ensure the dockets do not run short of funds in due course.
