A section of Coast leaders has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to initiate more projects in the region before he leaves power.
Speaking on Friday in Mombasa, the leaders said that the President has tried but noted that he can do more for them.
Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya asked Uhuru to ensure that the Diani Airstrip is expanded for the sake of faster transportation.
He also said the airstrip will transform the lives of many if upgraded.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta, our biggest challenge is the expansion of Diani airstrip to Airport. With your help as you have done before developing and overseeing projects in Diani, we seek your assistance in the extension of the runway,” Mvurya said as quoted by Citizen TV in a tweet.
The county boss also reminded the President that the residents have been anxious about the roads from the region as well as market centres where they can conduct their businesses.
“Kwale Residents have been preparing for this road. We have opened Kombani market that will reduce the lengthy journey to markets in Mombasa that is caused by using the ferry and also be partakers of the opening brought to us by the road, Dongo Kundu,” he noted
On her Part, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko asked Uhuru to remember the elderly in his appointments in the near future.
