Speaking to Mt Kenya region leaders during a Gema meeting at Sagana, Uhuru asked the leaders from the region to back the report once it is released. He promised to present the same before the public once he receives the same.

The head of state also said that the nation would be in flames had he not agreed to work with Orange Democratic Movement ( ODM) leader Raila Odinga in the famous handshake. He asked those opposed to BBI to express their opinions in a decent manner even it means disagreeing with his wishes.

"If we disagree, we should do it honourably with all opinions aired," he said, as quoted by The Star.

He also asked the leaders not to continue launching attacks against him. He said that he is not impressed with leaders who want to concentrate on abusive language at the expense of politics. Uhuru also said that the opinions of all Kenyans will be taken into account once the report comes out.

"Why do you want to bury me when I am alive? I will take you back on the journey we have walked together. In 2007, you recall what we went through. The country almost went up in flames," he said, as quoted by Star.

The commander in chief also reminded Kenyans of the hard times they went through because of the political tension witnessed in the nation.

He reiterated that the nation cannot afford to go back to those days. He also asked leaders to concentrate on matters on development rather than sideshows. The leaders allied to the Deputy President William Ruto have hinted at shooting down the report once it is made public.
