In a tweet on Tuesday, KURA noted that this is to facilitate the ongoing construction of an overpass.

"CLARIFICATION: Thika Bound Service Road at Ruaraka Interchange shall be partly closed on Saturday, August 31st & Sunday 1st September, 2019 from 6 AM to 5 PM to enable installation of Overpass beams for Outer Ring Road Junction Overpass," said KURA

KURA was responding to allegations that the Thika-bound service lane will be closed for only one day.

It maintained that it will be closed for two days to allow the workers a humble time to fix the overpass beams.

Motorists were advised to keep off this lane up to Monday.

Last month, two lanes were closed to allow for the construction of the overpass.

The overpass which is being constructed in the Allsops area is meant to allow for smooth traffic at the two major roads.

Thika Super Highway is the top-rated road among Kenyan roads.

Construction workers on the road are done occasionally when a need arises to ease traffic and also avoid accidents.

The road connects Thika to Nairobi.
