All is set for the Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon 13th edition to be held on Sunday 6, 2019.
The Marathon champions for inclusive education for children living with autism under the theme Champions Run for Autism.
Addressing the press at an Eldoret hotel on Friday, Athletics Kenya Central Rift Chairman Abraham Mutai said the 21 Kilometer race will start from Fims in Eldoret town and end at Eldoret Family Bank Branch.
“The Marathon has registered over 700 participants and pays up to top 20 of the winners for both male and female runners with total prize money of sh 2.3 million,” said Mutai.
He reiterated that the race will include a 21km half marathon, 5km family fun race, and 5km corporate race.
“The winners will be paid Sh350,000, Sh250,000 and Sh100,000 for the first, second and third prize respectively,” added the Athletics Kenya Central Rift Chairman.
Mutai noted that the security of all athletes is guaranteed.
Eldoret Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon is known for nurturing athletes Wolrd Half Marathon Champion Geoffrey Kamworor and 2012 Olympic marathon champion Stephen Kiprotich.
Jacqueline Mathaga, Family Group Foundation Manager said the proceeds collected during the race will be used to construct 3 classrooms of children living with autism at Sosiani Primary in Uasin Gishu County.
The classrooms will cost sh 1.5 million.
The race sponsors include Family bank, Rupas, Maisha Maji, Brainwave Communications, County Government of Uasin Gishu, AAR, Kass Media, Kenyan Homes Expo, Team Jasho, Rift Valley Training Technical Institute, African Institute of Research and Development Studies, Eldoret Gains among others.
