Turbo Sub-county Director of Education Kuyo Ole Saoinah has cried foul over 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary school not being achieved in his area of jurisdiction. He said despite the government giving bursaries and free secondary day school education some pupils have not joined form one.
“As I am talking, we stand at 48 per cent of pupils who have joined form one while the rest we don’t know their whereabouts,” said the Turbo Sub-County Director of Education.
He says they are working with the chiefs and their assistants to ensure that the 52 per cent of pupils who haven’t joined form one do so.
Ole Saoinah spoke to the press after meeting chiefs and their assistant at Uasin Gishu High School on Wednesday in a move to help in 100 per cent transition.
The Turbo Subcounty director of education said that after deliberation they found out that payments of lunch fees in days school, some pupils come from far, and buying of uniforms are the reasons behind pupils not joining form one.
“I have directed to ensure that no pupils are denied admission because of lack of lunch fee, parents should buy uniform where they want and no student should be sent home due to lack of uniform,” added Ole Saoinah.
He further said that pupils who come from far will be given alternative schools to save them from walking for long distances.
