Clinical officers in the North Rift on Tuesday downed their tools accusing the county government of refusing to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Led by the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers Rift Valley Chapter Secretary Jacob Maswai said they will paralyze all business in the medical facilities until the government agrees to come and negotiate with us.
“From today we are on strike and we will not offer our services until our CBA is signed and registered, all pending promotions and re-designation are effected and arrears are paid,” said Maswai.
Maswai who spoke to the press in Eldoret town on Tuesday reiterated that all interns must be paid, promotion of clinical officers and that all scheme of service for all clinical officers must be ratified for them to resume work.
“Despite the intimidation by county officials to our members on the ongoing strike, the strike is on and will continue until our CBA is signed and registered in the court of law,” Maswai said.
He called on all their members not to show up at their respective job stations until they get official communication from the secretary-general.
Maswai called on the governors from the region to return to the negotiation table without further ado.
He further said Universal Health Care (UHC) cannot be achieved if there will no of manpower.
