Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has said that he is not supporting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) as it is right now because it does not reflect the interest of his community as well as other minor communities in the country.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Monday, Ledama said that he can only support the report if all Kenyans will be given the opportunity to be part of the leadership. He said that the report has not clearly outlined how minority communities will benefit at the end of the day if it is adopted.
"I am in support of BBI, but it must reflect the interest of the Maasai, I am against the proposal as it is right now," he said.
The lawmaker also lamented that the current government belongs to a few communities. He noted that he is not happy when members of his community are sacked and replaced with others from other communities.
"Let me ask you a question? Do you think as a leader elected by the Maasai people to represent their interest I would be silent when I see every position held by a Maasai whether it is NTSA, a Maasai is removed and a Kikuyu is put in?" he said in part.
