Twenty four students have been admitted to hospital in Vihiga following a cholera outbreak.

The students, all from Nyangori High School fell sick after having a meal at the school.

Initially, it had been reported that the incident was a case of food poisoning.

But a doctor from the hospital, Erick Annihinda told this writer that tests conducted indicate that the students had cholera.

He ruled out the case of food poisoning.

The students are recuperating at Tigoi Dispensary.

Dr Annihinda said the students were recovering well.

The outbreak was reported on Monday.

Some students blamed the school for giving them dirty water.

Journalists were barred from entering the school.
