The lone goal was scored by Steven Etyang in the second half.

After the match, Shimanyula said he is never worried about facing AFC Leopards.

“Nothing will change between Homeboyz and AFC Leopards, they are our wives and we will beat them again and again even if we play tomorrow [Monday],” Shimanyula said as quoted by goal.com.

“In fact today we beat them 3-0 but the new football rules saw our two goals disallowed by the referee. But a win is a win because we have the points and we never lost against them," he added.

The last time AFC Leopards beat Kakamega Homeboyz in Kakamega was way back in 2013.

The result means AFC Leopards, 13 times KPL champions start the 2019/20 season on a wrong footing.

AFC Leopards' next league match is against Kariobangi Sharks while Homeboyz will face Posta Rangers on September 15.
