Speaking on Saturday at Tendere SDA Church, Maangi said enumerators should be allowed to do their job without interruption.

"As the National Population and Housing Census is ongoing across the country, I appeal to everyone in Kisii to exercise their civic duty and ensure that their families and friends have all been counted before 31st of August 2019. Police should arrest anyone harassing the enumerators," he said.

Maangi challenged Kisii residents to cooperate with the enumerators and provide them with accurate information, adding that the data collected will provide the basis upon which the national and county governments will prepare policies, resource allocation and development programmes that will propel the nation for a decade.

The second term deputy governor asked police officers to intensify security patrol at night to ensure the enumerators are not attacked by criminals.

"Enumerators' security should be guaranteed because they are conducting a crucial exercise. Kisii residents need to be counted so that we can have numbers to enable us as a county get enough resources from the national government for the next 10 years," Maangi stated.
