Nominated Senator Falhada Dekow Iman has dismissed reports that Inua Mama Jenga Taifa women group has been disbanded.
Iman said the group, which rallies behind Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, has only taken a break over the upcoming festive season, and has not been dissolved.
In a tweet on Thursday, the senator said the group will resume it's activities next year, after the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"Inua Mama gone for break and will be back next year, with more goodies and stuff to uplift women, youth and people living with disabilities, inua mama is still there and has not been disbanded it is active than ever. Wishing you all a very merry Xmas and happy prosperous year 2020!" Iman tweeted.
During the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report at the Bomas of Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta called for the disbandment of all political groups as a way of uniting Kenyans amid rising political tensions.
The Head of State was targeting the Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga factions, as well as Inua Mama group and Team Embrace which supports his handshake with ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
“All the factions Tanga Tanga, Kieleweke, Warembo wa huyu na warembo wa yule should be over and now we should have the country leaders and beauties of Kenya working together for the sake of development of the nation,” he said.
“It’s possible to find out the issue where we are differing and seeking the solutions, let us not waste our time on those things that divide us but to those that unite us, let’s unite and bring cohesion of our country," Uhuru added.
