President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined other leaders in sending his message of condolence to the family, relatives, and friends of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua’s mother Martha Kirigo Gachagua.
In his message of condolence posted on the president's website, Uhuru said that her death is not only a big blow to the family but also the entire nation.
He described her as a strong pillar in the lives of the members of the family and role model to Kenyans.
“Mama Kirigo was a gracious and courageous woman who raised a successful family and mentored many in her community," the President eulogised.
Uhuru also said that Mama Kirigo contributed to society in different ways, adding that she will be remembered for her critical role as a businesswoman in the nation.
“Mama Kirigo has been a role model as a successful farmer and businesswoman whose legacy will continue to be a reference point for many generations to come. Certainly, we can see the fruits of her keen parenting through her children who are prominent leaders of our great nation,” the President said.
Martha Kirigo Gachagua died in December last year aged 89.
