In a tweet on Wednesday, Duale conveyed his condolences on behalf of the Kenyan Parliament.

He described the deceased as a leader who invested in seeking peace in the Middle East region.

"On behalf of the Kenyan Parliament, The Government and People of Kenya, I send my condolences to the Royal family of Oman, Government and the people of Oman, following the demise of our leader Sultan Qaboos Bin Saidal Sai," Duale wrote.

"He was a great leader, moderator and peaceful ambassador to the Middle East and the Muslim Umma," he added.

Media reports indicate that the late leader of the Sultanate of Oman succumbed to cancer.

He rose to the leadership position after ousting his father from power, and is widely credited with ushering Oman into the modern age by embarking on an aggressive development agenda.

As such, he was the longest serving leader from the Arab world, having been in power for close to five decades.
