Winslow pleaded to raping an unconscious 17-year-old and subjecting a 54-year-old hitchhiker to sexual battery.

Thanks to the plea bargain, Kellen Winslow will be sentenced to between 12 to 18 years behind bars and not the life imprisonment that he stood to get had he been convicted of all the charges.

He had been set to be retried on kidnapping, sodomy, forced oral copulation and two more allegations of rape when he entered the plea bargain.

The player emotionally appealed to the judge to give him 12 years so that he could go and be with his family members as soon as possible.

"I pray to God that you give me 12 and I can go home to my family as soon as possible, '' he said.

At one point of his career, the football player was among the highest paid players in the National Football League.

He played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots and New York Jets.

His father Kellen Winslow sr is an NFL hall of famer and was present throughout his son's trial.
