Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael is in no position to make any declaration for the party, Belgut Member of Parliament Nelson Koech has said.
Koech says that the SG is just a common Kenyan, and cannot purport to be delivering the position of the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led political bloc.
He spoke on Sunday, shortly after Tuju, formerly a Member of Parliament for Rarieda, claimed that corruption suspects will not be allowed to vie in the looming Jubilee elections.
Koech says that there is nowhere the party has convened a meeting to discuss the issue, which confines Tuju to only making a personal opinion on what he feels should happen.
"If he was airing his views just like any other Kenyan would do, its okay. But if he claims to have spoken for the party, then the comments are totally unfounded. As far as I know, every party’s SG promotes policy decisions of their parties. In Jubilee, no party organ has met to take a position on this," he stated.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri questioned the declaration, wondering what would happen in the event that the implicated members are cleared by the court after the polls.
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro claimed that Tuju has no value for the party, after failing to deliver anything in the 2017 polls, and cannot, therefore, say anything on behalf of the party.
He said that judging by Tuju's latest actions, he is more of an ODM party member than Jubilee, and should consider crossing over to the ODM side.
"I hope he will be seeking to be ODM sec-gen. His body language, spoken and unspoken communication betrays where his heart is — ODM," he said.
