Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has predicted a major loss for the Mt Kenya region courtesy of the ongoing fights emanating from a division between politicians.

The region has been divided into two factions; one supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta (team /kieleweke) and the other is allied to Deputy President William Ruto (team Tanga Tanga).

The two factions have been attacking each other, at times almost going physical, as was the case at a church in Kiharu, Murang'a on Sunday.

Mwaura now says that this will render both teams losers, as it will weaken the region which has been voting as a block, enabling outsiders to penetrate and seize control.

"I’d like to declare that both Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke will lose. The net loser in this whole debate is central Kenya because when the mountain is split people can pass through. The question is what are we fighting about, what is the end game?" he said.

He made the remarks during an interview on NTV, Monday morning, at a time when the groupings are pushing in different directions, with Tangatanga endorsing Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

Kieleweke is rooting for political calm, and endorsing the ongoing dalliance between Uhuru and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, after their 2018 truce.
