A 41-year-old man was found dead in his house on Saturday evening in Kyai area, Machakos County.
The incident was confirmed by area assistant chief Josephine Mbithi who said the man died while sleeping.
The local administrator said the man's neighbours, who did not see him in the morning, got worried since his house was locked from inside.
"The neighbours were forced to break the door where they found him asleep in his bed," said Mbithi.
She divulged that the man had come home dead drunk, and could have died from too much drinking.
"Although we can't say for sure unless a post mortem is conducted but I would wish to urge residents to drink responsibly," she said.
"Also relate well with others, in this case, it took long for neighbours to realise the man was dead. Let's live well with the people close to us," she added.
The chief commended parents in the area, stating that minors we're not involved in social vices during this festive season.
"We have only seen adults misbehaving the children have been so disciplined no complaints against them," she said.
The body was moved to Machakos level five hospital mortuary.
