A body of Victor Muchera, a street urchin who is alleged to have been handcuffed and thrown to River Sosiani has been retrieved after two weeks of searching.
According to her sister Beatrice Khalechi, Muchera was arrested, handcuffed and pushed into River Sosiani for allegedly being involved in the use of illegal drugs.
“As the family of the deceased, we are disappointed by the police of Eldoret Central police station, how can they arrest our brother, handcuffed him and thereafter push him in the river,” said Khalechi.
Speaking to the press on Monday at River Sosiani where the body was retrieved, the street urchin's sister said stern action should be taken against police officers who were involved.
“We want justice since the role of the police is to arrest and take suspects to court for prosecution and not to kill them as what happened to my brother,” said Khalechi, 23.
Another body of Anthony Gitongo, a street urchin was retrieved a week ago and was also allegedly killed by a police officer and the body dumped in the River Sosiani.
Eldoret West OCPD Eliud Maiyo confirmed the retrieval of the body but refuted claims that the deceased was pushed into the river by police officers.
He, however, said investigations are underway to determine what transpired promising to take actions against all those involved.
The body of the deceased was taken Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue as investigations continue.
