The suspect, Peter Odhiambo Ochieng appeared in court on Tuesday for reportedly using underhand tactics to steal the said amount of money from the client.

According to the prosecution, the man reportedly stole the said amount from the account of the late Janet Khaniri wife to Wilson Karani Khaniri. It, however, remains unclear where he committed the act after the deceased’s kin launched a formal complaint.

While appearing before Magistrate Martha Mutuku, he denied the charges levelled against him by the prosecution side after it emerged that the funds could not be accounted for.

The accused, through his lawyer, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him and asked the court for lenient terms of bail as far as the accusations are concerned.

He told the court that he is the family’s sole breadwinners, adding he was innocent of the allegations.

He also told the court that he is facing a similar account where Safaricom is the complainant. He was freed on a cash bail of Sh100,000 or an alternative of S200,000 bond.
